A worldwide investment firm called Tiga has teamed up with Groundplay Developments, whose principal Dan Matthews was a partner in Bear Mountain before the company went into receivership in the fall of 2024, to pay over $141 million for the real estate holdings and recreation facilities at Bear Mountain.

The City of Victoria is launching a new online court booking system, making it easier than ever to book a tennis or pickleball court in advance. The new system allows players to quickly check availability, secure a court up to three weeks in advance and avoid the uncertainty of showing up at a busy court. The new reservation system gives players more choice and flexibility.

Paper Street Theatre Co. is set to return to Craigdarroch Castle with a fresh theatre event, Upstairs – Downstairs. This improvised British drama will take place in the historic setting of a real-life castle, featuring a six-night run with eight performances scheduled from May 7 to 16.

The City of Langford celebrated the groundbreaking of a two‑storey child care and community arts centre at 3014 Glen Lake Road. The facility will provide 49 licensed child care spaces for children up to five years of age and will become the new home of the Centennial Arts Centre, relocating from Carlow Road.

Pacific Opera Victoria, in collaboration with Ballet Victoria, will debut Christoph Willibald Gluck’s Orpheus & Eurydice at Victoria’s Royal Theatre on April 22. This classic tale of a haunting romance will be showcased in four performances: April 22, 24, and 28 at 7:30 pm, and April 26 at 2:30 pm. 

Canada Post is proceeding with the restructuring plan required by the federal government, which may lead to the permanent cessation of door-to-door delivery.

A Victoria-based startup called FerryShare is providing travellers with a more reasonably priced option by matching drivers with passengers who have ferry reservations, enabling shared transport between Vancouver Island and the Lower Mainland.

A memorandum of understanding (MOU) has been signed by the Government of British Columbia and Tla’amin Nation to improve cooperative stewardship activities in Tla’amin Nation territory. The MOU focuses on advancing important treaty commitments through a shared stewardship framework.
