PARKSVILLE – Malahat Skywalk was the Judges’ Choice, Best Overall Winner of the 15th Annual Vancouver Island Real Estate Board Commercial Building Awards, Thursday, April 28 at the Tigh Na Mara Seaside Spa Resort in Parksville.
Malahat Skywalk, a spectacular structure overlooking southern Vancouver Island from the peak of the Malahat portion on the Trans-Canada Highway, also won the Award of Excellence in the Tourism category. The owner of the property on Malahat First Nation land is Malahat Skywalk Corp., and it was built by Kinsol Timber Systems.
For the past two years, the event was held virtually due to Covid pandemic restrictions on in-person gatherings.
“We are thrilled with the turnout that filled the room at the Tigh Na Mara Resort, and it was great to have people together to celebrate these great buildings,” says Mark MacDonald of Business Examiner, which coordinates the event, adding there were 36 Finalists in this year’s awards.
Island West Coast Developments (IWCD) of Nanaimo had three of their projects win Awards of Excellence: Maitland Street Village of Port Alberni in Affordable Housing, European Specialty Automotive of Nanaimo in Automotive, and Garry Oak Park in Industrial.
