LANGFORD – Developer Cedar Coast and builder Orion Construction today broke ground on Aura, an 84-unit purpose-built rental apartment building at 870 McCallum Road in Langford. The project aligns with the climate performance criteria in the CMHC MLI Select Program, with the new homes to be constructed to ‘Step Code 3’ which is 50 per cent more energy efficient than the building code.

Langford became the fastest-growing municipality in British Columbia with a notable 31.8% population increase to 46,584 in just five years. New rental housing is cornerstone to the community; Langford is known as a national sporting capital in Canada with several national and provincial-level teams that play and train in the city including Rugby Canada, Pacific Football Club, and the Westshore Rebels.
Langford is also slated to add a new post-secondary campus in fall 2024 as a joint initiative between post-secondary institutions University of Victoria, Royal Roads University, Camosun College, and the Justice Institute.
Aura will deliver over 78,000 sq. ft. of rental apartments situated near Millstream Road, close to major commuter routes. The six-storey building incorporates diverse unit layouts, from one-bedroom homes to two bedrooms plus den, ranging in size from 560 to 1,000 sq. ft. Building amenities include bike storage, storage units, a co-working lounge on the ground floor, and a fitness gym off the lobby.
