NANAIMO – For City Tile, family isn’t just a word; it’s who we are.
Founders Dominic and Rose Staniscia are proud to have all three of their dedicated daughters at the helm. Danielle and Michelle oversee the Nanaimo branch on 4337 Boban Drive, while Christina ensures the Courtenay outlet at 2989 Kilpatrick Avenue thrives. Son’s-in-law Dave, in Courtenay, and Adam, in Nanaimo, manage the warehouses. This deep-rooted family connection ensures every customer feels welcomed and valued, just like they’re part of the Staniscia clan.
“We’re here to offer our community the finest quality tiles in the warmest, most genuine family setting,” shares Danielle. “The City Tile team is ready to help plan the perfect tile project for every home.”
Since opening their flagship Nanaimo location in November 2003, the Staniscias have braved economic highs and lows, always holding the torch of their commitment to the community. Even through global challenges, like recessions and the pandemic, City Tile made it through.
“I never thought we’d be in the position we’re in right now,” says Dominic. “We’re very fortunate to be working with our family. That’s the fun part – we can be together, and work together. Our staff have been wonderful, and we treat them like family. We can’t do it alone.”
“Our retail warehouse business model is our strength,” explains Christina. “We stock a comprehensive range of tiles right here, ensuring our patrons don’t have to wait. What you see is what you get, and that’s a promise.”
Keeping pace with the dynamic world of tiles, the City Tile family is always learning, attending industry trade shows and researching the newest trends and products. This passion ensures the community always gets the best of the best.
From ceramic wall tiles, porcelain options, to essential tools and accessories – City Tile is the community’s all-encompassing tile destination.
Reflecting on their journey, Michelle speaks of her older sister, “With Christina being part of the business from the beginning, she quickly became an indispensable asset. From help-ing with book-keeping to taking the reins at our Courtenay location, her commitment is unwavering.”
As for Michelle, her grounded expertise in interior design and keen eye for décor is reflected in our carefully selected tile options as well as the quality of the design service and support our team offers our valued clients.
Danielle’s addition was her keen eye for the digital side of the business. “Marketing has always been a passion of mine; I knew I’d be able to bring a new perspective to our digital and media strategies. I also voice our radio ads and run our Nanaimo location with Michelle. It’s all hands-on deck here.”
The recent pandemic tested everyone. Taking this to heart, the Staniscias’ emphasis on kindness and care meant they approached these times with an even deeper commitment. “We’ve always prioritized our community, and during such trying times, we’ve gone above and beyond to serve with added empathy,” Rose reflects.
“We owe being able to continue doing business to the unwavering support from our community and patrons. It’s a bond we cherish and promise to nurture,” Danielle adds with gratitude. “Our family’s promise is to continue sharing our passion for tiles and customer service with every client that walks through our doors.”
