KELOWNABig White Ski Resort has announced a $9.4 million infrastructure investment in 2025.

The resort plans to modernize and elevate guest experiences as well as an increased support in sustainability.

This year’s focus will be to expand Ridge Rocket chairlift electrical infrastructure with the installation of underground power cables supporting digital signage, electric heating and future lift modernizing. The project, which has been in the planning stages for the past 2 years is set to be completed by October. The Ridge will continue to undergo improvements through 2026.

Fibre optic lines will be extended to key lift areas which will enable real-time communications and digital signage across five zones including the Ridge, Bullet, Powder, Gem Lake and Black Forest.

“All of these enhancements play a role in our long-term vision for modernization,” said Darcy Arnold, chief operating officer of Big White Ski Resort. “They’re strategic investments that support how we want Big White to grow — smarter, more sustainable and always focused on our guests.”

“Getting power to the top of the mountain is always a challenge — there’s rock, tough terrain and trenching,” Arnold said. “That’s why this work has to happen during the summer. Once completed, it’s a critical step toward lifting our energy systems into the future.”

Space previously used for the Rider Store and offices will be repurposed and used for a new daycare and expanded Kids’ Centre.

Big White Ski Resort is family-owned and operated.
