VICTORIA – One thing that remains nearly unchanged in the business world is the need to stand out. For consumer goods, the most obvious way to do that has been to slap a label on your product. Even now in the technological age, consumers still choose to frequent stores, handle products and pick their favorites off the shelf.
For Richard Newsome, President & Founder of the custom label company Sticky Business Inc., this has proven widely beneficial.
“I started the company in 1997 when I originally focused on producing custom wine labels for the ‘Brew on Premise’ businesses in British Columbia and Ontario,” said Newsome. “I quickly saw new opportunities in other industries and markets for custom labels, so I launched stickybusiness.com in 2001 and haven’t looked back since.”
At Sticky Business, the company produces custom labels, pewter labels, decals, domed decals, embossed seals, graphic overlays and printed tape for every province in Canada and every state in the USA, along with 31 other countries around the world.
Some of the company’s high-profile clients include YouTube, Gulfstream Aerospace, RCMP, New York Post; Yale University; McDonald’s Canada; WestJet; UPS; Timex; NFL Hall of Fame; US Treasury Board; PGA Tour and Viking Cruises.
In order to achieve such a substantial client base, the company utilizes state-of-the-art hardware and software to assure the quality of each product is “second to none,” according to Newsome.
“We pride ourselves in world class customer service and top-notch quality,” said Newsome. “In fact, those have been the two keys to our success. Many people are confused as to where to go and what to do when they have a new product.”
“Just as many people are surprised to learn a world class custom label company offering competitive pricing, excellent service and top-notch ‘sticky’ products is right here on southern Vancouver Island!”
Just before COVID-19 hit, the company moved into a new 5000 sq. ft. facility at 401 Garbally Road, Victoria, and has continued to expand on products and services ever since.
“Although the time during the pandemic was harrowing on multiple levels, the business was actually able to benefit as our team learned to do more with less and substantially increase efficiency and productivity.”
Although some businesses may have altered their approach to labels as branding continues to change, Newsome is confident the world will always need to market their physical products.
“Through new digital marketing and social media marketing programs and an additional emphasis on the auto dealer, home and business security, mobility scooter and florist sectors, we hope to enjoy continued increase in both revenue and profit,” said Newsome. “You have a vision – we make it stick!”
