Vancouver Island Business Excellence Awards Returns!

Nominations Sought For 21st Celebration Of Island Business Returns, March 3 in Victoria

VICTORIA – It’s back!

The Grant Thornton LLP Vancouver Island Business Excellence Awards will be live and in-person in its 21st edition, Thursday, March 3 at the Bear Mountain Resort in Langford. The event was canceled last January due to the COVID pandemic.

Nomination forms are now available at www.be.businessexaminer.ca. There is no cost to enter, and businesses can self-enter their own companies. Organizers are anticipating a large number of entries from award-worthy businesses this year as the January 15 nomination deadline is coming up next month.

Tickets to the event are $145 plus GST, and are also available through the website. COVID protocols mandate that all attendees must show Bear Mountain staff proof of vaccinations prior to admittance.

“We are more than pleased to be able to present this celebration again,” says Mark MacDonald of Business Examiner, which coordinates the event. “We all missed the BE Awards last year, and with all that everyone has been through – and still are, to some degree – we believe it’s important to be able to get out and network with other award winning companies and celebrate successes in business throughout Vancouver Island.”
Because there was no BE Awards event last year, nominations will cover the last two years – 2020 and 2021. Nominations are typically fairly evenly split between companies north of the Malahat and south of the Malahat, and MacDonald expects that to continue.

“We expect our judges will again have their hands full to determine the winners in each of the 17 categories at the Gala,” notes MacDonald. “These awards always bring out new, exciting ventures and amazing stories about entrepreneurs who make their dreams come true on Vancouver Island.”

Grant Thornton LLP is the Title Sponsor of the event, and winners of each of the 17 Categories will be invited to a special “Breakfast For Champions” round-table the following morning, hosted by Grant Thornton LLP and Business Examiner.

Categories this year are:

  • Automotive (car and truck dealers, mechanical and body repair, rentals)
  • Construction/ Development
  • Entrepreneur
  • Financial Services (Institutions, wealth management, group benefits)
  • Food & Beverage Production (agriculture, seafood, food products)
