Toss The Boss is a great way to frame a fundraising event

NANAIMOKix Citton, Executive Director at the Nanaimo Brain Injury Society (NBIS) is excited about an event that will allow employees to “Toss The Boss”, off a bridge to raise money for brain injury survivors and families in Nanaimo.

Toss the Boss will be held at the Bungy bridge at WildPlay Nanaimo on October 13. The goal is to raise $50,000 to fund programs and services at NBIS.

And away they go! A Boss gets Tossed at the bungy bridge

“This is a fun event where teams can register to ‘toss the boss’ off the bridge at WildPlay Nanaimo – with a bungy cable attached, of course,” states Kix. “Businesses are encouraged to use this as a team building opportunity and spend the day at the beautiful WildPlay park in Nanaimo.

“The 150 foot jump over the Nanaimo River is the ultimate thrill. It’s an extreme adrenaline rush you won’t ever forget!”

WildPlay is also offering a 50 per cent discount to individuals and teams from participating companies to take on WildPlay’s Adventure Courses or Axe Throwing on the day of the event.

Participants are also encouraged to participate in the costume contest.

“WildPlay is committed to supporting NBIS and has contributed a great deal of resources and support to this event,” Kix adds. “They are committed to supporting NBIS and have Toss The Boss is a great way to frame a fundraising event

Participants in Toss the Boss must raise a minimum of $1,000 to jump, and prizes will be awarded for top fundraisers.

Teams and individuals are encouraged to get creative and find new and unique ways to raise funds for the opportunity to ‘toss their boss’ and support their community and this great cause.

“This will be a fun, lighthearted team building event to support the communities,” she says. “Anyone can participate. Toss your friend, teammate, teacher, professor, boss, colleague, even yourself! People are encouraged to stay for the day and enjoy the park, the ropes course, or axe throwing, and watch people jump in fun costumes.”

The Nanaimo Brain Injury Society supports local people impacted by brain injuries to lead full and productive lives. They provide programs, one-to-one support for persons with brain injuries including service navigation and hospital visits, and other social and volunteer opportunities.

In addition to this, they provide support for families and caregivers, as well as prevention education, and education about the impacts of brain injury. Over 1,000 individuals per year connect and benefit from NBIS programming through our varying services and events.

“Brain injury can happen to anyone, any-time, anywhere and no two injuries are alike,” Kix states. “To meet the diverse and growing needs of our community, NBIS offers individual and family support, group programs, assistance with housing, and more. We are a charitable, nonprofit organization that relies on grants and donations to serve the com-plex needs of brain injury survivors and families on the Island.”
