VANCOUVER ISLAND – The program supports non-profit leaders to strengthen organizational impact and create financial diversification strategies Vancouver Island: Applications are now open for non profit organizations and charities on Vancouver Island and Gulf islands for the upcoming Thriving Non Profits cohorts.
The 4-6-month program was developed in 2016 by Scale Enterprises and Victoria Foundation to strengthen the stability and resilience of non-profit organizations.
Thriving Non-Profits is presented by non profit leaders for non profit leaders to help organizations build a diversified financial model and revenue streams. In order to best serve their communities and thrive, organizations need to be financially resilient.
“It is very easy to fall into a silo when you are trying to fund your organization day to day and this cohort experience allows you to break away from that constraint and think more along a long-term horizon”, says the Robert Bateman Foundation, a past participant in the program.
In the last five years, Thriving Non-Profits has witnessed great success with over 40 previous participating organizations in developing the strength of the local civil society sector. Past participants have gone on to activities such as launching or further developing social enterprises, making social purpose real estate purchases, and developing out fee-for-service programs. In addition, alumni organizations have worked together on group pilot initiatives such as shared purchasing and shared services.
“Where else do you find a 6-month program where you get this calibre of tools and connection with colleagues – it’s unheard of,” says Power to Be, a 2017 cohort alumni.
Applications are now open for the 2021 cohorts accepting applicants from the Victoria, Gulf Island, Central and North Island communities.
