A regional transportation service, which would integrate the Capital Regional District’s (CRD) current trail transportation efforts with expansion planning, has been approved by the CRD.

A $12.8 million grant has been allocated to enhance Royal Athletic Park and Centennial Square. The City of Victoria intends to allocate $8.3 million towards Royal Athletic Park, with the remaining funds going toward a redesign of Centennial Square and the remaining $4.5 million from the B.C. Government’s Growing Communities Fund.

Work on the Lady Minto Hospital on Salt Spring Island is nearing completion with an emergency department expansion that cost $14 million.

The Rock Bay Site Revitalization Tax Exemption Bylaw was enacted by the Victoria council, granting Esquimalt and Songhees First Nations a 10-year property tax exemption while they work to revitalize their Rock Bay properties near the north end of downtown.

Chard Developments is set to enhance the downtown core with the addition of over 200 homes through its Nest and Haven buildings. These new structures will rise six and 12 storeys on the Fernwood side of the downtown-Fernwood border.

Sakura Property Development has filed a request for development authorization and rezoning at 235 Russell Street. If granted, this will allow the construction of rental apartments and light industrial space south of Esquimalt Road.

The Esquimalt Recreation Center’s Fraser Street pool is closed through September 23rd for maintenance.
