Chard Development is set to construct 450 rental apartments on Cook Street, located between Yates and Johnson streets. The project will feature 25 and 15-storey towers next to the new No. 1 Victoria Fire Hall. 

The Victoria Sports Awards, hosted by the Victoria Foundation, will take place on February 27 at Government House, honouring the athletes, coaches, volunteers, and officials from Greater Victoria. 

Flight Cannabis Co. opens in Westside Village at 180 Wilson St, Victoria.

Starting March 1, 2025, new fees are coming to the City’s EV fast chargers. These changes only apply to the City’s EV fast chargers, located at Crystal Pool and Fitness Centre and Victoria West Park. These fees will also apply to new EV fast chargers expected to open in four neighbourhoods in 2025.

The Langford Gateway project, which included the proposal for up to four high-rise structures reaching a height of 22 stories, along with commercial space located at the intersection of Peatt Road and Arncote Avenue, has been cancelled. Thus, the land has been ordered for sale by the court at a price of $11.5 million.

An affordable homeownership initiative supported by BC Housing has reached its final three residences, having successfully sold 101 suites. This program is designed to facilitate the transition of tenants to homeownership in the Fernwood area, located east of downtown Victoria.

Sult Pierogi Bar on Yates Street will close its doors on February 12th.

The preliminary results for the Crystal Pool Referendum have been tabulated from 10 voting places, advance voting opportunities, special voting opportunities and mail ballots. So far, 9,115 (58.71%) voted Yes to being in favour of the City of Victoria adopting the Loan Authorization (Crystal Pool Replacement) Bylaw No. 24-054 to borrow up to $168,900,000, repayable over a term not exceeding 20 years, for the new Crystal Pool and Wellness Centre and to enter into agreements longer than five years for that purpose. 7,703 (60.57%) voted Central Park North as their preference for the location of the new Crystal Pool and Wellness Centre. Total voter turnout was 15,547 or 21.18% of registered voters.

The City of Langford and the BC Lions have partnered to host the 2025 season’s pre-season opener CFL game at Starlight Stadium on May 19th against the Calgary Stampeders. Tickets will go on sale this March.

On January 24th, Epicure voluntarily filed for bankruptcy and selected MNP Ltd. as its licensed insolvency trustee. The company also shut down operations at its 10555 West Saanich Rd. location.

The Royal Canadian Navy has marked the completion of the second phase of the $1.1 billion A/B Jetty Recapitalization Project. The new B-Jetty replaces the old wooden wharf at CFB Esquimalt, which had been in use for decades.
