VICTORIA – Canada’s longest running social media conference, Social Media Camp, is changing ownership. Founders Paul Holmes and Chris Burdge have sold the long running event to Tami Tate, owner of 365 Day Media Group.
“It’s been a huge honour to have hosted one of Canada’s largest social media conferences for the last 10 years,” says Chris Burdge. ‘We are proud of what we have accomplished, but we also think the best years are ahead, starting with 2020”.
New owner Tami Tate comes with a lot of expertise in both the event and social media world. She has owned and operated Triple T Consulting & Events for over 20 years, and in 2015 she also started 365 Day Media Group, which provides social media and marketing for a number of businesses and events.
“Paul and Chris were ahead of the game when they started Social Media Camp in 2010 and it continues to be one of the largest conferences of its kind in Canada,” stated Tami Tate. “I’m looking forward to building on the legacy they have established.”
Social Media Camp is an annual conference in Victoria BC that attracts experts in the field of social media and marketing, drawing attendees from across North America.
“Chris and I are extremely enthusiastic over this move as we feel Tami’s expertise, network and team is going to help really take the event to the next level!” explained Paul Holmes. “It was the right time for us to make this move and we look forward to supporting Tami and Social Media Camp 2020.”
Social Media Camp will take place on May 7-8, 2020 at the Victoria Conference Centre. The coming months will see announcements on speakers, the schedule for the event as well as other small events that will be offered throughout the year under the Social Media Camp umbrella.
“In the coming months I will reach out to local businesses to help us continue to grow attendance from around the world, establishing Social Media Camp as a go to destination event that people want to attend each and every year and thus help to support our local economy,” added Tami. “Social media has become such an integral part of marketing and I’m excited about the plans we have to take this event to the next level.”
