NANAIMORocky Point Engineering Ltd., a growing mechanical consulting engineering company with offices in Vancouver, Langley, Victoria, Nanaimo, Kelowna, Kamloops, and Nelson, is celebrating its 25th year in business in a special way: By opening an office in Smithers, allowing them to better serve northern communities and clients.

Aaron Mullaley, who joined the company in 2005 and became a principal in 2011, is the principal and senior project manager for their Nanaimo office. He says that “Rocky Point strive to maintain a leadership position in all aspects of our business which includes our client relationships, advancing technical expertise, community involvement, and employee mentoring with progressive policies.”

In addition to the typical design of building mechanical services such as heating, ventilation, air-conditioning, plumbing, and fire protection, Rocky Point Engineering can provide value-added consulting engineering services such as; Seismic Upgrades; Mechanical Upgrades as Prime Consultant; Energy Modeling; Decarbonization Assessments; Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) Assessments and Upgrades; High Efficiency Heating Plant Retrofits; Active and Passive Heat Recovery Systems; DDC System Upgrades; and BIM 3D Modeling.

“Our success can be attributed to our supportive approach in meeting our clients’ needs now and into the future for the enhancement of existing buildings and development of new facilities,” Mullaley observes. “Our vision is to provide the best built environments for public needs with environmental respect.”

Mullaley notes that while their team may understand the technical components of  building system problems, the facility operators understand what works, what doesn’t, and their building needs. “By focusing on positive collaborative communication, we can enhance the understanding of what would best serve the facility,” he adds. “The process begins with a respect for the empirical knowledge of the facility available from its operations team, and our role is to provide the technical knowledge to allow them to make the right decisions for their facilities.”
