North Island Kayaks Celebrating Over Three Decades of Wildlife, Nature Tours

Located in beautiful Telegraph Cove, this operation boasts an array of multi-day kayaking tours, offering thrilling encounters with ocean wildlife across the Broughton Archipelago. Their tours include all kayaking equipment and all camping equipment for multi-day tours. Full meals are provided on tours longer than one day, to provide guests with an experience that is fully all-inclusive.

“We offer day tours from two hours to full days, up to eight days of adventurous kayaking and camping,” says Elspeth McGillivray, General Manager at North Island Kayak, sister company to Prince of Whales – Whale & Marine Wildlife Adventures. “We really have something for any kind of traveler. We kayak to incredible locations within the Broughton Archipelago and the Johnstone Strait, that you can’t really reach from anywhere else.

“There is balance in the company, as equal opportunities are given to everyone and our team is very diverse,” Elspeth states, adding that the group has over 120 employees during peak season, around 40 of which work in Telegraph Cove between North Island Kayak and Prince of Whales.

“We take pride in being a woman-led operation, employing both locals and individuals from around the world, many with marine biology backgrounds,” she says, adding that all of the company’s operations managers are women.

As North Island Kayak continues its journey, it stands as a testament to the harmonious blend of adventure, sustainability, and inclusivity.

“Across the operation, we are taking out hundreds of travelers a day,” she adds. “BC is one of the most bio-diverse areas in the world, and travelers want to see what we are lucky to have.”
