LANGFORDOlympic View Golf Club is celebrating its 35th anniversary with a new Golf Course Architectural Master Plan.

International design firm Lobb + Partners has worked with Olympic View on the plan, which emphasizes sustainability and stewardship, and is a careful evolution rather than a dramatic redesign, reflecting Olympic View’s commitment to preserving natural beauty while improving the experience for golfers.

Central to the initiative is the pursuit of GEO Certification, a globally recognized standard for sustainable golf management that promotes water conservation, biodiversity, efficient maintenance, and community engagement.

“This Master Plan aligns perfectly with our GEO Certification goal,” says T-Jay Creamer, Golf Course Superintendent. “It’s not just about how the course plays – it’s about how it integrates with the surrounding nature and how we ensure it thrives for decades to come.”

Lobb + Partners’ portfolio spans five continents, and the Olympic View plan introduces refinements such as wider fairways, expanded short-grass areas, naturalized zones to support biodiversity, and strategic hazard placement that balances challenge and accessibility.

These enhancements are expected to improve pace of play and ensure consistent course conditioning year-round.

“Olympic View is a special site,” says Alex Hay, Partner at Lobb + Partners. “Our goal was to preserve the character of the existing layout while introducing updates that enhance sustainability, strategy, and visual impact. It’s about helping the course evolve in a way that feels natural and enduring.”

Work begins this fall with the reconstruction of the 7th green, providing more variety and fairness in pin placements. Beyond golf, the Master Plan also complements Olympic View Living, the master-planned residential community adjacent to the course which blends homes and pathways with fairways, forests, and wetlands.

“Olympic View Living was designed to embrace the natural beauty of the site, and the golf course is a key part of that experience,” says Peter de Zwager, VP of Development for the Burrard Group. “This plan reinforces our commitment to sustainability and livability – creating a place where people can connect with nature, recreation, and each other.”

Olympic View Golf Club has been a premier golf destination for 35 years and is owned and operated by Vancouver-based GolfBC Group, one of Western Canada’s largest multi-course golf course owners/operators.
