National Consulting Firm MNP Merges with Next Digital

July 2, 2020

BRITISH COLUMBIA – Managed IT solutions company Next Digital will merge with MNP, one of Canada’s largest national accounting, tax and business consulting firms, effective August 1, 2020. The move enhances MNP’s ability to help its clients succeed, specifically in the delivery of managed services across the key service areas of MNP’s Technology Solutions practice, including Digital Services, Cyber Security, Applications and Operations, and Technology Advisory Services.

“The needs of Canadian organizations are quickly evolving in this dynamic environment, and we are constantly working with our clients to better understand how we can best support them,” said Sean Devin, National Leader of MNP’s Technology Solutions practice. “Business goals remain broadly the same from one decade to the next – companies are always looking for ways to operate more efficiently, engage effectively with customers, and to continue to grow – but the tools available to support their journey are always evolving. This merger reflects our commitment to always look for new ways, including the use of new technologies, to help our clients reach their full potential.”

With offices in Edmonton, Calgary and Red Deer and a team of 54, Next Digital provides accessible, user-friendly outsourced IT service and support to businesses across Canada — with a focus in Alberta and Western Canada. Core services include: Managed IT, Hardware and Software Procurement, IT Project Management, Data Protection, and Cloud Services. Next Digital’s Andrew JacksonShawn Kubiski and John McLaughlin will join MNP as partners.

“We’ve had the opportunity to work with MNP’s Technology Solutions team with some mutual clients over the past few years. Through those engagements, we recognized our Managed Services offering would complement MNP’s current Technology Solutions practice,” said John McLaughlin, Managing Partner, Next Digital. “As mergers have always been a part of our growth strategy, we felt an opportunity to merge with MNP would be worth exploring. During our discussions, we became increasingly more impressed with the firm’s leadership and client commitment. Going through the merger process we could not have imagined a better fit.”

Founded in 1958, MNP has grown to more than 85 locations and 5,500 team members coast-to-coast, delivering diverse services in accounting, consulting and tax, as well as specialized expertise in every sector and area of business. Not only is MNP the largest of the mid-market focused firms in Canada, it has continued to maintain its Canadian roots, helping Canadian businesses at home and abroad to succeed. MNP’s Technology Solutions practice is one of the fastest-growing parts of its business.

“We’ve continued to expand our Technology Solutions practice at MNP in recent years, focusing on bolstering our resources with diverse skills and experiences to increase the range of problems we are able to help our clients solve,” added Devin. “This merger is a strategic move that brings further expertise to our teams right across the country, as well as cutting-edge technologies and approaches that we believe will help us to bring even greater value to our clients; both now and in the future.”

McLaughlin added that joining MNP was a strategic decision and his team is excited to be part of a firm that shares their vision, values and commitment to providing quality client service.

“MNP has a thriving Technology Solutions practice and we are thrilled to be joining a firm that is committed to identifying and using all of the tools available to help its clients achieve their goals,” said McLaughlin. “Our existing clients will now have access to a wider network of experts across every facet of Canadian business. Our two teams will bring complementary skills to each others’ tables that will fully round out the range of solutions we’re able to offer our clients and the marketplace. This merger also provides new opportunities for our people to learn and develop their careers by working with MNP’s diverse teams and client base. We couldn’t be happier about joining the MNP family.”
