BRITISH COLUMBIA – Canadian sports nutrition brand Näak has officially partnered with the BC Parks Foundation for an exciting initiative called 3% For The Forests to help protect the province’s forests, maintain its trails, and safeguard the wildlife and endangered species that call it home.
Three per cent of proceeds from all purchases made in BC or Alberta of any Näak product will be donated to the BC Parks Foundation, which seeks to protect lands from development and human interference. Näak’s goal is to donate $10,000 by the end of 2021.
With their commitment to ecological justice, joining forces with the BC Parks Foundation is a natural fit. Näak was founded on a mission to preserve their outdoor playground. Their sustainable outlook was the driver for vegetarian endurance athletes and co-founders William Walcker and Minh-Anh Pham to pioneer a line of delicious, high-performance energy bars made from locally-cultivated crickets, one of the most eco-friendly and nutrient-rich protein sources in existence.
“We’re very excited to partner with Näak on this initiative and to bring more public awareness around our forests that are urgently in need of protection,” says Rob Bates, Communications & Marketing Manager at the BC Parks Foundation.
“We aim to always have a wild and free playground for all the generations to come,” adds Näak co-founder Minh-Anh Pham. “With 3% For The Forests and the help of our customers, we’re one step closer to that reality.”
Näak was founded in 2016 by William Walcker and Minh-Anh Pham, two endurance athletes who competed in the World Triathlon Championships. Together, they launched the company on one guiding principle: maximum energy, minimum resources.
With sustainable practices informing every step of their way, Näak has been making a real difference: they’ve reduced at least 160,227 kilograms of greenhouse gases and more than 7,443,650 litres of water and those numbers are climbing every second. As the company continues to grow, the sky’s the limit on the positive impact they can make.
Näak can be found online and has a prominent presence in stores in Victoria, Comox and Kamloops.
