Ian Poyntz, owner of Barb’s Fish and Chips on Victoria’s Fisherman’s Wharf, is celebrating the restaurant’s 40th anniversary.

Caroline Cameron, a microbiologist at the University of Victoria, is currently conducting research to develop a vaccine for syphilis, an infectious and deadly congenital disease. The US National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases funded the experiment with $7.8 million.
