Ingrid Jarrett, the CEO of the British Columbia Hotel Association, has declared her intention to leave her position at the conclusion of the year.

Fisgard Asset Management Corporation is celebrating 30 years in business.

Gregory Ciupka of Victoria has been elected to the Shevchenko Foundation board of directors.

Kevin Jones, Victoria’s top-producing real estate agent, has joined eXp Realty.

Destination Greater Victoria was awarded this week with the Destination Marketing Accreditation Program (DMAP) designation by Destinations International in recognition of the organization’s commitment to industry excellence and meeting the industry standard for performance and accountability of destination organizations around the world.

Adrian Somers has been appointed Vice-President, Operations and Business by Jim Swanson, Managing Partner of Shwing Batter Investment Group, the team that owns the Nanaimo NightOwls and Victoria HarbourCats. This appointment will help to further the brands’ expansion on the island and their ongoing efforts. Additionally, Tina Cornett is elevated to the position of General Manager for the Nanaimo NightOwls’ third season. Christian Stewart, an experienced WCL veteran, continues to serve as the General Manager of the Victoria HarbourCats. Chris Beveridge is now taking on the position of General Manager of the Edwards Family Training Centre. Meanwhile, John Pollard, an experienced media executive, will continue serving as the Marketing Director for the HarbourCats and NightOwls. Similarly, Kent Malpass will continue his role as the Concessions Director for the NightOwls, working closely with Tina Cornett.

The Coast Victoria Hotel & Marina’s guest rooms have just undergone a multimillion-dollar restoration by Coast Hotels Limited, an entirely owned division of APA Hotel Canada.

The District of Sooke is announcing the departure of Fire Chief Ted Ruiter and the appointment of Deputy Fire Chief Wayne Kennedy as the new Fire Chief effective July 20, 2024. Ted Ruiter has led Sooke Fire Rescue since 2021, after serving as Fire Chief and Director of Emergency Services in Fernie for eight years.

Within the recently formed Francis Garden Housing Cooperative, the District of Sooke is looking into a proposal to establish sixty-six additional spots for new childcare.
