VICTORIA – Several Vancouver Island businesses have been named as finalists for the 2022 BC Tourism and Hospitality Awards, put on by the BC Hotel Association (BCHA) and the Tourism Industry Association of BC.
Winners will be announced March 10 at an Awards Gala evening on at the Richmond Conference Centre. The awards recognize and celebrate excellence, leadership, and innovation within the province’s tourism and hospitality industry, showcasing the province’s most exceptional leaders and positive change-makers.
Following the call for submissions, the organizing committee received hundreds of nominations, highlighting the wealth of exceptional talent within our industry. The following individuals have been recognized for their outstanding contribution to B.C.’s tourism and hospitality community:
Accessibility Award – Kootenay Adaptive Sport Association and BC Wildlife Park Kamloops.
Businesswoman of the Year Award – Teara Fraser, Founder and Lead Executive, Iskwew Air.
Employees First Award – Accent Inns and Hotel Zed.
Hotelier of the Year – Madone Pelan, General Manager, The Oak Bay Beach Hotel, and David Roper, General Manager, Old House Hotel & Spa.
Indigenous Operator of the Year Award – Gulf Island Seaplanes and Quaaout Lodge & Talking Rock Resort.
Innovation Award – Malahat SkyWalk.
Professional Excellence (DMO) Award – Travel Penticton, Tourism Revelstoke and Tourism Hope, Cascades & Canyons.
Sustainability Award – Bella Coola Heli Sports, The Parkside Hotel & Spa and Siwash Lake Wilderness Resort.
