LANGFORDIsland FanCon has once again solidified its reputation as Vancouver Island’s premier pop culture celebration and a major economic catalyst—injecting over $1 million into the local economy during its second annual event, held March 28–30, 2025.

Thousands of fans, artists, performers, and vendors gathered in Langford for a weekend that blended community, creativity, and commerce. Building on the success of its inaugural year, Island FanCon 2025 elevated its offerings while deepening its roots in the Capital Region.

“We’re incredibly proud of the continued momentum FanCon has gained,” said Lonnie Eckardt, founder of Island FanCon. “To bring such a widely diverse group of talent, generate over $1 million for our local economy, and give fans an epic experience in Langford; it’s beyond exciting.”

This year’s event would not have been possible without the incredible support of Viking Group, the event’s Title Sponsor, whose unwavering dedication to the community helped make history. Special recognition goes to Viking Group President Ben Gulbrandsen, whose leadership was instrumental in securing none other than UFC icon Georges St-Pierre for his first-ever appearance in Langford—an unforgettable moment that drew fans from across the Island and beyond.

Island FanCon 2025 was packed with showstopping moments—from celebrity appearances and fan-led panels to live performances and creative competitions.

The return of fan-favourite attractions brought nonstop energy to the venue. The Speak Up! initiative invited fans to take the mic and share the stage with celebrity voice actors, while the massively popular Cosplay Contest showcased stunning craftsmanship and character transformations. ConQuest, the convention’s adrenaline-fueled gaming tournament, saw competitors face off for glory and prizes. Meanwhile, the beloved trivia showdown Fandemonium added to the interactive fan experience.

On the Main Stage, attendees were treated to a diverse lineup of talent, including the sharp-witted stand-up comedy of Curran Dobbs, the captivating musical stylings of Joan Bessie, and special guest appearances throughout the weekend.

Not to be missed was the hilarious Napoleon Dynamite cast reunion, bringing nostalgic laughs and quirky charm. Meanwhile, panel discussions offered behind-the-scenes access to stars and creatives from hit shows like iZombie, Once Upon a Time, and The 100.

With well over 100 vendors, artists, and exhibitors, the convention floor was a thriving marketplace of pop culture art, collectibles, and local creativity. Island FanCon continues to be a powerful platform for small businesses, creators, and fans to connect in meaningful and inspiring ways.

As the FanCon team sets its sights on 2026, anticipation is already building. Dates for next year’s event will be announced soon, with promises of even bigger talent, deeper community connections, and more unforgettable fan experiences.
