VICTORIA – The Huntingdon Manor Hotel property on Quebec Street has been a longstanding focal point in downtown Victoria, and they now have a whole new look for its top floor.

The third floor of the building is now home to 38 newly renovated loft rooms, designed specifically to be a home away from home for weary travelers.

“We have different room sites, the newest one being the London Loft, which faces the har-bourside and has a beautiful view of the inner harbour,” says Director of Sales and Marketing Julia Canton, adding it features a king-sized bed, pull-out couch, living room area, kitchen and bathroom.

The loft rooms are new products and they are quite different than our other rooms.” she notes, adding the new rooms will be available this spring. “Our central location, along with the food services we offer—a complimentary hot buffet breakfast at Hunter’s Restaurant for all of our guests—makes us an excellent option for corporate travelers. We can also host meetings for up to 40 guests.”

The Windsor Room was named after the British Royal family and is ideal for smaller corporate meetings or workshop. It offers plenty of natural daylight, a break-out space and a kitchenette.

The newly refurbished Grand Dorset Suite is a large, modern split-level suite for business meetings, team planning sessions or hosting dinners for staff or families. It includes two bedrooms and two bathrooms. It also features a premium view and its own private balcony.

The Drawing Room is ideal for up to eight guests within the historic Pendray Inn and Tea House. The Pendray is also renowned for hosting one of the best Afternoon Teas in all of Victoria, and can host receptions and social events for up to 100 guests.
The 123 room property has been owned by the Yang family since 2013.

“The Manor is on historical ground, and they own the entire block, and some of the buildings date to the 1860’s,” she says. “It’s a very beautiful, unique, historical property, and the Huntingdon Manor Hotel was built in the 1980’s, styled from the Canadian Pacific Hotels to mirror a heritage feel.”

The grounds surrounding the country manor style hotel feature beautiful rose and topiary gardens, ponds and cobblestone pathways.
Huntingdon Manor is a certified property for 4 Green Keys and Biosphere, meaning it is a responsible and sustainable property, and it is pet friendly.

“We stand out for being unique in a historic setting,” she notes. “We’re not a branded property so that means the people who are coming to stay here are looking for that charm and personalized welcome.

“We definitely have a very strong team here that has been with us for a long time, and we provide excellent customer services to our guests.”

Prior to the Covid pandemic, the loft rooms were primarily for students, as Huntingdon Manor hosted international students attending Royal Roads University and the University of Victoria.

The Pandemic was a massive challenge for the entire hospitality industry, and like other properties, Huntingdon Manor was hit hard.
“The future is looking bright,” she says. “We’ve had a couple of really good years, which has enabled us to do this renovation, and 2024 looks like it’s going to be a strong year for us.”
