CENTRAL SAANICH – Teamwork between two local companies has resulted in some great news for Little League baseball teams in Central Saanich.
Green Coast Heat Pumps Inc. owner Darcy Cross pulled in his friend, Matt Cronmiller of Pacific Heat Pumps Inc. and some other companies to get involved, and the result was the donation of a new heat pump and installation at the ball fields at Centennial Park in Saanichton.
“Central Saanich Little League has a beautiful athletic building located there,” he notes. “Until now, here has been no heat in the building other than a large, power hungry, drywall heater to take the chill off.”
The President of the non-profit association, Moe Wittman, asked Kevin Rielly, who is the Umpire in Chief and a salesman at Pacific Heat Pumps of Sidney, and Darcy, owner of league sponsor Green Coast Heat Pumps and coach of a mini-minor team in the league, if they could provide quotes.
Rather than submit competing quotes, the two companies, through Pacific Heat Pumps owner Matt and Darcy, decided to collaborate to provide and install two heat pump systems at the batting cage/practice facility free of charge. The two companies occasionally work closely together, as Green Coast focuses on residential customers and Pacific Heat Pumps on residential and commercial business.
Jesse Blackstock, branch director at the Master Group, a local HVAC-R distributor, donated the ‘Moovair’ equipment.
“Jesse has been heavily involved in baseball in the GVRD and was excited to be involved in this donation,” notes Cross. “We did the installation over two days.”
Green Coast Heat Pumps, based in Central Saanich, serves Vancouver Island from Port Alberni to the Saanich Peninsula. Darcy founded the company in May 2022 to provide custom residential heat pump retrofits and service to customers in need of fossil fuel or baseboard heat system upgrades, or to add air conditioning to their home as the summers become increasingly hotter.
“Our value-added specialty is working closely with customers; right from the free-quote, through home assessment, equipment selection, energy saving upgrades, to rebate and grant guidance,” Darcy explains. “Our success so far is attributed to our valued customers who promote the company through word of mouth.”
Pacific Heat Pumps is a locally owned company that serves Victoria and the Gulf Islands. Matt states “We love to take the time to educate customers on heat pump technology and the benefits it brings in reducing home heating costs. To provide customers the opportunity to see and hear some of the six brands of equipment we carry, we opened ‘The Heat Pump Shop’ in Sidney. Regardless of the size of a project, residential or commercial, we ensure customers are 100% satisfied.
