Tender for Malahat Permanent Repair Announced

VICTORIA – Permanent repair work will begin soon on the portions of the Malahat section of Highway 1 damaged during November’s flooding.

The project tender for the Highway 1 – Malahat Tunnel Hill Washout repair project has been posted to BC Bid. The work will include restoring approximately 50 metres of the northbound lane north of Finlayson Arm Road and repairing damage to existing drainage and slope stability. An 80-metre retaining wall will also be replaced to secure the slope against future extreme rain events.

BCCPA: How To Identify, Protect Yourself, And Report Fraud

BRITISH COLUMBIA – Did you know that March is Fraud Prevention Month in Canada? This is a time to educate or refresh ourselves on the types of fraud being practiced and how we can protect ourselves. According to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre (CAFC), Canadians reportedly lost $379 million to scams in 2021, with the same source indicating this is an increase of 130% compared to 2020.

Some of this is attributed to the rise of COVID-19-related scams during the pandemic, with $8.15 million reportedly lost by Canadians from March 6 to February 28, 2022 due to these types of scams.

Harbour Seaplanes Fuel Surcharge Notice

VICTORIA – Due to the ongoing surge in fuel prices, Harbour Air will be implementing a fuel surcharge on all fares effective Monday, March 28. Please rest assured this is a temporary measure being implemented to cover operational costs.

This surcharge will apply to all new bookings including confirmed travel, and standby travel. Additionally, any new purchases of pre-paid quick tickets, and on-account quick tickets will include a Fuel Surcharge on the base fare.
