Mark Breslauer is the new CEO of CVIY

VICTORIACommissionaires Victoria, the Islands and Yukon (CVIY) announced the appointment of Mark Breslauer as its new CEO effective 15 May 2023.

Breslauer has led two Vancouver Island-based organizations, first serving as President and CEO of a commercial/retail office supply company and then in his most recent position as CEO of United Way Southern Vancouver Island (UWSVI). He succeeds Gary Paulson who was the CEO for the past seven years and has now retired.

“On behalf of the Board of Governors and all Commissionaires, I welcome Mark to the Canadian Corps of Commissionaires,” said Al Giesbrecht, the Chair of the CVIY Board of Governors. “His combined community leadership, not-for-profit (NPO) experience, and extensive private sector business experience will support our strategic goals and social mandate of providing meaningful employment to veterans of the Canadian Armed Forces, the RCMP and their families.”

Breslauer holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) degree from the University of Manitoba and has completed numerous executive programs across the country over the course of his career. His business acumen, inspirational leadership and expertise in the NPO and private sector brought positive results to organizations through his roles as CEO and in senior positions in operations, strategy, marketing, and business development.

In 2022, the Greater Victoria Chamber of Commerce recognized his community commitment, teamwork, and impact with UWSVI winning the NPO of the year award. Breslauer is an active mentor and guest lecturer with the Gustavson School of Business at the University of Victoria. He has worked across diverse industries with successful brands at a local, national, and global level.
