LANTZVILLE – When cousins Kyle and Randy McNaught, along with their project partners, acquired property on Lantzville Road in June, 2023, they thought long and hard about how to build a project that honours Lantzville’s historic village core.
The result is McNaught Contracting’s flagship development, Coastline Station — a three-storey mixed-use building with 6,000 square feet of street-level commercial space and 12 residential units above. Thoughtfully designed and community-inspired, it includes one-bedroom plus den, two-bedroom, and two-bedroom plus den condominiums ranging from 795 to 1,026 square feet, starting at $599,900 plus GST.
“We are all Lantzville people and we want to stand behind our project,” says Randy, a former Western Hockey League player and draft pick of the NHL’s New York Rangers. “We think it’s sensible growth for Lantzville. It’s not a huge apartment building, and it’s in line with Lantzville’s OCP (Official Community Plan).
“It has 54 parking stalls, four electrical-vehicle chargers, and a loading dock. There is parking for bikes, and a bike-storage room as well.”
The commercial space will feature a pharmacy, a family medical practice, and what will be Drip Coffee Shop’s third location in the Nanaimo area. Coastline Station was designed by Chris Chung of CMTC Architects (Vancouver), with targeted completion in late spring or early summer 2026.

The partners both grew up in the business, working for Randy’s father, well-known developer Dave McNaught, who is now retired. This is their first project as partners.
“Kyle is like a brother to me, and he has an extreme wealth of knowledge in building, so it’s a pleasure working with him,” Randy notes. “He has a great eye for detail.”
“We started talking about doing something like this a few years ago, and I talked Kyle into moving down from the Okanagan, where he had a custom home-building business, and partnering up with me,” he adds. “He came down and worked on a couple of jobs that we had going on, including 22,553 square feet of industrial building on Timberlands Road.”
McNaught Contracting is committed to quality craftsmanship, transparent communication, and a deep respect for the people and places they serve. The project is being developed in collaboration with a small group of local partners who share McNaught Contracting’s vision for thoughtful, community-minded growth in Lantzville.

Each home in Coastline Station has been carefully designed for modern coastal living, featuring open-concept layouts, quality finishes, and private balconies — many offering views of the surrounding village and stunning ocean views. Elevator access adds everyday convenience for residents. Every residential unit has a balcony, and half of the units feature walk-in closets.
It was designed to conform with Lantzville’s Official Community Plan and offers smart density along with walkable commercial activity while preserving the small-town character of the area.
The combination of residential above and commercial beneath has benefits for everyone. Those who live there can simply go downstairs to have coffee and a treat at Drip, or visit the pharmacy or family practice. Commercial tenants benefit from the added security of residents above 24 hours a day — and potential customers right at their doorstep.
“From concept to construction, every detail of Coastline Station has been guided by our commitment to craftsmanship, sustainability, and respect for Lantzville’s heritage,” the company’s website states. “This is not just a building. It’s a place where people can live, connect, and thrive in the heart of their community.”
