LANGFORD – Pay attention to the thermostat – You have the power.

Is one of the key tips that Summer Fragomeni-Hay and her team at Cedar Coast Heating & Mechanical Inc. tells customers, as it not only dictates the temperature of the home, but the cost of heating and cooling the house.

“I always tell my customers that setting the thermostat correctly is one of the biggest things they need to learn about owning and operating a heating system – especially with everyone getting heat pumps,” she states. “It’s just amazing what a few tips from a qualified technician can make in terms of having a great impact on heating and cooling costs on a monthly basis.

“We’re heating craftsmen, as well as heating contractors – and that means we take pride in a job done right.”
Summer and her crew of Certified technicians called “The Heat Team”, are able to expertly advise customers about their existing HVAC (Heating, Ventilation & Air Conditioning) units and how to increase efficiency, or purchase new units.

“Sometimes we identify upgrades or tweaks to your system so that every month, a customer scan see the maximum savings on their monthly bill,” she notes. “We strive for 40 to 60 percent savings on new installations or retrofitting, es-pecially when switching from an old oil or to a gas or propane system fuel to a heat pump.

“We really like to say that reliable and regular servicing is what keeps costs low, and that a few tips or a site visit from a technician once a year will make a big impact, and mitigate some really unnecessary repairs”.

Leading Fragomeni-Hay’s company is Rick Talbot, a third generation HVAC expert – is not from a different trade that just decided to get into HVAC, this IS his trade. Rick’s grandfather, Harry Talbot, was one-half of Victoria’s Cook & Talbot operation in the 1950’s, back to the Imperial Oil days, and they’ve seen the transition from oil to heat pumps and everything in between.

“There’s a rich heating history with Ricks family,” and Fragomeni-Hay says. “Having a well rounded crew of various ages keep us as a company, on top of latest technologies which means customers get the best of both worlds.”

“We really struggled to survive through the pandemic, and the fact that we’ve made it this far is a testament to my teams commitment to excellence,” she notes. “I’m very proud that I’ve been able to keep our staff working through all of it.”

The company specializes in service work and retrofitting, we are keenly knowledgeable about federal and provincial rebate opportunities, so they can share that information for customers, so they can understand what financial assistance is available through the Provincial and Federal Rebates and the products they offer are all rebate qualifying and Energy Star certified.

“We are a member of the The Home Performance Contractor Network (HPCN) which is a database of retrofit contractors in British Columbia (BC) that meet specified trade designation and training qualifications and are subject to ongoing review and quality assurance checks,” she says.
