CANADA – The Canadian Chamber filed a submission with the Standing Senate Committee on Transport and Communications supporting Bill S-245, An Act to declare the Trans Mountain Pipeline Project and related works to be for the general advantage of Canada.
“Just as significant to Canada as the positive economic and environmental benefits of this project is the negative message we send to the world if we cannot get the project built,” said Hon. Perrin Beatty, President and Chief Executive Officer, Canadian Chamber of Commerce. “The Trans Mountain Pipeline Expansion was approved following a multi-year, rigorous and scientifically-sound review that included consultations with thousands of individuals, including Indigenous communities. Failing to build the expansion would send a terrible message to investors at home and abroad, and it would pose a significant economic threat to our country at a time when we urgently need to attract investment.
