From 2027 to 2030, B.C. will stop indexation of personal income tax bands and non-refundable tax credits at 2026 levels, resuming in 2031, which covers all seven personal income tax bands and important credits like the basic personal, age, and disability amounts. Higher income individuals will experience a greater impact as they will be taxed in higher categories over time.

The lowest personal income tax rate in British Columbia will rise from 5.06 per cent to 5.60 per cent on the first $50,363 of taxable income starting in 2026 and going forward. This adjustment will appear on pay stubs after July 1, 2026.

The maximum B.C. tax reduction credit for lower-income individuals will rise by $115 to $690 starting with the 2026 tax year. In order to further offset the increase in the lowest B.C. personal income tax rate from 5.06 per cent to 5.60 per cent, the non-refundable credit is fully available to taxpayers with net incomes under $25,570 and is reduced at a rate of 3.56 per cent for incomes over that threshold, with partial relief available up to $44,950.

The volunteer fireman and search and rescue tax credit will have a doubling of its eligible value from $3,000 to $6,000 starting from the taxation year of 2026 and onwards. This raises the cap on tax credits from $168 to $336.
