VICTORIA – Baggins Shoes, the premier retailer of Converse and Vans shoes in Victoria, BC and online turned 47, on December 1st. Glen Lynch began his journey as a small psychedelic inspired business, on the busy Government Street. For the last 47 years Glen has progressed with the times and in 1993 found his calling with Converse Sneakers.
Converse have been around for over 100 years and are iconic to every generation. Several years later Glen added the very popular Vans brand to his arsenal and in the early 2000’s could declare himself to be the largest retailer of both brands in the world.
Glen is celebrated among the Victoria business community as one of the longest running businesses. He continues to work every day in story despite reaching the average retirement age and is now joined by the next generation of Baggins with the promotion of Tara Savrtka to director of Operations with Baggins on August 1st, 2016
Tara began her journey with the company in 2013 and quickly gather as much information and knowledge possible. Having a bachelor’s degree in Germanic Studies and French Language, the online and tourist elements of the business interested her the most, however she quickly become enthralled by the small business elements and outreaching popularity of the Business around the world.
Baggins continues to be at the forefront of innovation in footwear. They offer custom printing on Converse and Vans and are one of a small handful of retailers offering such a service in North America.
