VICTORIA – Construction of the Kimta E&N Cycling Connector has begun. The corridor will feature new multi-use pathways, protected bike lanes, crosswalks, accessibility upgrades, landscaping and lighting. Once complete, this route will provide a continuous All Ages and Abilities (AAA) connection from the E&N Regional Trail to the downtown core.

Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure Rob Fleming announced the Province of BC’s funding for this project through the 2021/2022 Active Transportation Infrastructure Grants Program.

The Kimta E&N Connector is part of the City’s AAA cycling network and the Capital Regional District’s (CRD) Regional Trail Network.

The City of Victoria is leading the Kimta E&N Connector project in collaboration with the CRD who operate the regional trail network. Sparker Construction is the prime contractor for the project and construction is expected to be complete in six months. The project is primarily funded through the Canada Community-Building Fund and Provincial Active Transportation Infrastructure Grant.
