In partnership with the Gustavson School of Business, Mitacs is launching the Business Strategy Internship program. The award will provide $10,000 per student to interested undergraduate and graduate students to undertake a 12-16 week strategic project with a small or medium sized company (SME).
Projects will be structured to undertake a strategic analysis of an SME to help them restore or modify their business operations in a new business environment disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

- Students are supervised by a Gustavson Faculty member that will guide and mentor the student throughout the strategic analysis and project delivery.
- Students are supervised by an Internship Coordinator that will support the employer and the student’s education throughout the experiential learning opportunity.
- Access to potential future employees already knowledgeable of the existing complexities of our business community and ready to provide solutions for continued economic success.
Eligibility
- Small to medium sized companies (SME’s) with less than 500 full-time employees.
- Identification of a project designed to address one or more business strategy components such as marketing strategy, operations strategy, finance strategy, human resources strategy, supply chain strategy, etc.
- Commitment of $2,500, Gustavson School of Business providing $2,500 and MITACS providing $5,000 for each internship award.
- Summer Internships: July 2 – September 4th full time and part time through early Fall for a total of 12-16 weeks.
- Fall Internships: 12-16 weeks, full time starting no later than August 31st
