NANAIMO – VMAC has announced that it captured two awards at the BC Export Awards in Vancouver in February: The highest honour for BC Exporter of the Year, and for the top honour in the Manufactured Products category.
The Nanaimo company that makes underhood air compressors for vehicles was recognized for its rotary screw air compressor and multi-power system. VMAC’s air compressors have been serving the truck industry in 38 different countries.
“We are thrilled to be recognized at the BC Export Awards for our efforts in supporting B.C.’s manufacturing sector with our global exports,” says VMAC President Tod Gilbert. “These awards are a testament to our coworkers’ hard work and dedication, who continue to drive our growth and success.”
Each of VMAC’s units is designed, manufactured and assembled in their 44,000 square foot facility on Kipp Road in south Nanaimo, which includes a foundry, machine shops, fabrication shop, quality assurance lab, and assembly space.
“VMAC is just one example of the opportunity for manufacturing in British Columbia, and we are proud to represent this important business sector,” adds Gilbert. “Contributing to the local economy in a positive and meaningful way has been part of VMAC’s driving purpose for the past 37 years and will continue to be as the company grows and thrives in Nanaimo.”
The BC Export Awards recognizes the achievements of the province’s companies in eight different categories, highlighting their products, services and innovations that are in demand worldwide.
