Commercial Building Awards Finalists Announced For April 6th Gala

Buildings From The Malahat To Port Hardy To Be Celebrated At Coast Bastion Hotel In Nanaimo

NANAIMO – A total of 47 buildings will be vying for top honours at the 16th Annual Central/North Vancouver Island Commercial Building Awards, presented by VIREB, which will be held in person as a live event April 6th at the Coast Bastion Hotel in Nanaimo.

For the past two years, the event was held virtually due to Covid pandemic restrictions on in-person gatherings.

“It is going to be a great event as we celebrate 47 outstanding finalist buildings that were  completed in 2022,” says John MacDonald of Business Examiner, which coordinates the event. “These are very important buildings in each community, and this event has always been about celebrating the hard work, commitment and ideas that go into each and every one of them.”

Gold Sponsors of the Awards are SignAge, Knappett Projects Inc. and Coastal Community Credit Union. To be eligible for the Awards, commercial, industrial and revenue-producing projects, including renovation projects, from the Malahat to Port Hardy must have been completed between January 1 and December 31, 2022.

“The buildings and projects entered this year are outstanding,” says MacDonald. “We are really looking forward to celebrating the fine work of the owner and builders.”

There will be at least 14 commercial categories:

Gold River – Grieg Aquaculture Recirculating System Expansion.

Campbell River – St. Patrick’s Church Expansion and Columbarium Project, Crestview at Seymour Village Phase 4, Oceanview Apartments, Pier 1.

Comox Valley – Comox Valley Dodge, Montage, Seal Bay Park Bates Road Parking Lot, Mission, Ocean Front Village, England Oaks, 17th Street Corridor Improvements, John Howard Society of North Island, Cliffe Avenue Base Building, Edgett Excavating, CVWMC Organics Transfer Station, Merville Fire Hall, Westisle Office in Royston.

Parksville – Pacific Palms RV Resort, Memorial Avenue Upgrade, Parksville Child and Family Centre, Parksville Outdoor Theatre, Berwick Parksville.

There will also be a Judges’ Choice Award for the best overall entry. Last year’s winner were the Malahat Skywalk project on the Malahat.
