Shared Tower Seeking Partners to Improve Telecommunication Services on Vancouver Island

December 12, 2022

VANCOUVER ISLAND – Shared Tower seeks to partner with local governments, Indigenous communities, and Private Sector developers to accommodate communication service needs of growing areas on Vancouver Island.

Rural Canadians feel the impact of the digital divide everywhere, not just at home and work.

Shared Tower has facilitated over 1,500 wireless sites across Canada, including sites in Nanaimo and Courtenay and is set to further identify and fill gaps in service needs on Vancouver Island. With the capability to build traditional macro towers, microcells and small cells in rural, urban and suburban markets, Shared Tower provides adaptable Tower Services.

As an independent network operator Shared Tower builds strong partnerships and expedites time-to-revenue in local markets. Recently Shared Towers completed a project through civil construction, stacking, to on-air in a mere nine and a half weeks. With a tower designed to host multiple wireless service providers, this project enables reliable network connection in rural Sauble Beach, ON.

Why Shared Tower? Because we are leaders in the field and have earned the trust of two key groups, real estate owners and major communications carriers. We are customer service focused and able to be responsive to the needs of rural communities. Our strength is we have local knowledge of our partners. Our focus is to be carrier neutral, this creates opportunity for growth and lowers the barrier for entry for small carriers. Our strategic advantage is we develop infrastructure that includes fibre, edge, and wireless colocation assets. By combining all three service levels this offers holistic solutions for network operators.

Shared Tower has a team with decades of experience in the wireless, real estate, and technology industries. There is focus on developing assets in markets where the most value can be added to each customers’ networks, including jurisdictions where municipal approvals require multi-jurisdictional engagement. Shared Tower’s model is designed to be turnkey – managing the entire site development process, from real estate and local government approvals, design, engineering, tower, fibre and data centre build, power and commissioning.

An ideal collaboration for partnership with Shared Tower is local government and private landowners that recognize a gap in communication service levels. Partnerships can significantly expand local economic development opportunities and respond the needs of growing community needs for residents and local businesses. Shared Tower is excited to have the capacity locally to guide communities to develop their communications edge.
