NANAIMO – The Vancouver Island Real Estate Board (VIREB) has recently announced that Rob Grey was named VIREB’s 2016 Realtor of the Year. Grey received the award at a special gala held at the Coast Bastion Hotel in Nanaimo. Coast Capital Savings sponsored the awards for the tenth year in a row.
The Realtor of the Year Award is presented to an individual whose dedication to excellence has had a profound influence on the professional image of VIREB realtors and who has made significant contributions to the real estate industry.
“I am honoured to be recognized by my peers for this award. I love my job and enjoy working in an exciting field with great people, colleagues, and clients alike,” says Grey, a licensed reatlor for more than 25 years.
His achievements extend far beyond his business activities. One of his most significant accomplishments and passions is the Real Estate Energy Efficiency Program (REEP). The brainchild behind this innovative educational program, Grey has devoted countless volunteer hours to planning and promoting REEP on Vancouver Island. His passionate commitment to REEP is helping our industry take a leadership role in heightening awareness of energy efficiency.
Grey’s civic activity is exemplified by his work with Vancouver Island University (VIU). An alumnus of VIU’s Liberal Arts program, he became director of the VIU Foundation in 2006. Grey currently serves as vice-chair of the board, a role which involves fundraising for student scholarships and bursaries.
He also sits on the organizing committee of VIU’s Realty Referral Program, for which he donates a portion of his commission to help students. Grey is also a big supporter of the Children’s Miracle Foundation and Loaves and Fishes Community Food Bank.
“Rob is a consummate professional, continuously seeking opportunities to enhance his knowledge of the industry and assist others on their journey,” says VIREB executive officer Bill Benoit. “He is a very deserving recipient of such a prestigious award.
