The interior of our home tells a story. It’s where family and friends gather, where we nourish, where we rest, where we play, and now more than ever it’s also where people work from. How our space makes us feel is a vital component to an enriched and positive lifestyle. That’s where Patti Ransom, owner of Patti Ransom Art and Design, comes in.
“Design, for me, is in my heart,” said Ransom. “Whether it is interiors, fashion, art, or gardening, all of those things are components of creating a home that is inviting and comforting.”
Ransom is an interior design ex-pert and has been in the industry for over three decades. She began her career in furniture sales and gradually moved on to interior design and decor while also developing her skills as an artist, creating a life fused with design and art.
Patti Ransom Art and Design is a full-service interior design business. In addition to designing full scale renovations, custom homes and developments, Ransom and her team also import furnishings from across North America, supply and install window coverings, wall coverings, artwork and more. Her business specializes in layouts and sourcing of cabinetry, lighting, finish selection, room reworking, and floor and furniture plans. By taking care of these pieces, the overwhelming task of finding all of the various components that make a house a home are no longer a burden for the client to carry.
Ransom and her team are proud to service the entire Vancouver Island. Her projects generally range from high-end renovations and custom homes to multi-family developments, and occasionally updates to commercial spaces and hotels.
Although Ransom’s focus is West Coast interiors, her generous experience in the industry and lust for international inspiration and worldwide travel have fueled her ability to pro-vide a range of styles that would accommodate even the most discerning home owner.
“I am fortunate to have been in the business for 35 years and have had the luxury of being able to see what’s out in the world and absorb all of the beautiful details which have definitely influenced my work,” said Ransom.

“Being exposed to more internationally does mean that we have a better insight and a broader perspective on bringing some of those features, ideas, thoughts and lifestyle components to the West Coast.”
That being said, Ransom is keenly aware that her customers hire her to articulate their dream space. It is her job to create and decorate with the characteristics of her clients – not her own.
“Anyone can have good taste but it is the designers that listen and really hear their clients that have the most success in this industry,” said Ransom “I have been listening to clients for decades and have developed a strong sense of people and what their needs are.”
At the end of the day, the final product needs to be a source of pride, satisfying the aesthetic vision of the clients, as well as being mindful of functionality, budget and timelines.
