DUNCANKarli Ann Fortin has spent her life overcoming obstacles, and while doing so has accumulated skills and insight that benefit her clients as a licensed realtor at Pemberton Holmes.

Karli Ann was a plumber for 13 years – including five years as owner of Grace Point Plumbing – before becoming a realtor, has bought and renovated two homes, has since purchased another and has been a landlord since 2008.

“I’ve had new clients call me because of my experience, and they chose me because of that,” she notes. “I think that’s because I understand houses a little bit better than someone that hasn’t been in construction. And it also helped give me a strong work ethic, so I tend to work quickly on things.”

“It was always important for me to get my own home because home was always the rock-solid thing, in an un-solid world growing up. It seemed like the most important thing in the world was buying my own house so that I could create my own stability, and I did as soon as I could.”

Karli Ann shares that she grew up in difficult circumstances.

“We grew up really poor and with many struggles, so one of my big values in life is to overcome obstacles,” she states. “To believe that you don’t have to put up with what you’re dealing with and can change anything is so important. My mom was an addict and there was violence in the house. But I believed I could leave a terrible situation and change things for myself, and live a good life, and I have.”

Karli Ann Fortin loves renovating properties and making beautiful homes

Real estate challenges inspire her.

“I love finding something that has been neglected and has potential and making it beautiful, it is a very rewarding feeling to bring a piece of Real Estate back to life”
she says.

Karli Ann provided an example of a riverfront house that she renovated.

“The basement was full of carpenter ants and black widow spiders, the basement would flood, and nobody wanted to go down there. Now, it’s a beautiful and unique suite, with a full kitchen, and people really enjoy it,” she notes, adding she has also gotten into vacation rentals and loves to host vacationers.

Since starting her real estate career two and a half years ago, Karli Ann has helped 60 people buy or sell their homes.

“My favourite clients to work with are those who know what they want and are not afraid to go for it,” she states. “I find my best self can get behind those clients and work fiercely and tirelessly for them.”
