NANAIMO – The first in a series of Nanaimo Port Authority Public Engagement Open Houses will be held this week.
The first open house is February 22 from 4 to 7 pm on the mezzanine level of the Port Theatre, 125 Front Street. The Port Authority will provide information outlining various activities that the organization engages in on a daily and ongoing basis.
This public forum provides an opportunity to meet Port Authority Board of Directors and senior staff face-to-face. Residents and businesses are invited to learn about the port and what the port is working on that affects the community on a local and regional basis. Light refreshments will be provided.
Information will be available regarding:
- Downtown Marina Revitalization Project;
- Harbour Safety and Security;
- Environmental Impacts and Protection;
- Development of the Port; and
- Land Use in and around Nanaimo’s Harbour.
“Public engagement provides an opportunity for us to hear about community concerns and perceptions on a first-hand basis. This opportunity for direct contact with the local and regional community is important to our Board and staff,” says Ewan Moir, President and CEO of the Nanaimo Port Authority .
“We look forward to meeting and discussing issues that affect the community and Nanaimo’s working harbour,” he added.
