Frank Allen Financial Joins Arbutus Financial Services Limited


NANAIMO – Dale Lindsay has been appointed the new Chief Administrative Officer for the City of Nanaimo, and will assume his new position October 2.

Dale has been with the City for 27 years, and served admirably in the positions of Director of Community Development from 2013-2019, General Manager of Development Services (2019-present) and Deputy Chief Administrative Officer since 2022.


Congratulations to Trish Turnbull upon receiving a Lifetime Achievement Award from RE/MAX of Nanaimo.

Trish’ son Carter, a former Nanaimo Buccaneer, is now playing professional hockey in Europe after graduating from the University of Connecticut, which he attended for four years on a scholarship.


Communication Connection has filed for bankruptcy, and some of their employees have found new positions. Stewart Irwin and Mark Churton have joined NATG, and Nik Farris is now with Pacific Reach.


Pacific Coastal Airlines officially started their first direct Nanaimo to Kelowna and Nanaimo to Vancouver South Terminal flights September 24.

Nanaimo Airport CEO Dave Devana notes the airline will be using 19-passenger Beechcraft 1900 aircraft on the routes.


Over $700,000 was raised by business leaders and participants in the 3rd Annual Tom Harris Charity Classic golf tournament this summer. It is a fitting tribute to Tom Harris, a much beloved and well-respected community builder, family man and business owner.

Funds will be distributed to support local needs in the community.

Frank Allen, well-known community builder and Greater Nanaimo Chamber of Commerce President has announced a partnership that sees The Frank Allen Financial Group Inc. joining Arbutus Financial Services Limited.

Frank will continue to manage the office at 1605 Bowen Road, and serve clients with mutual fund and insurance products, including Manulife Canada, as well as estate planning

The announcement follows news that his daughter, Kari Bradley, has purchased the Chamber of Commerce Group Benefits portion of the company after working for the Frank Allen Financial Group for 28 years. Kari will continue to serve clients through her home office at Little Bird Employee Benefits Ltd.


Congratulations to the team – or teams – at DKI-Pro Pacific for hitting a home run while holding a successful 2023 Ronald McDonald House Charity softball game at Aggie Field in Ladysmith on September 16.

City council has proceeded in advancing the Te’tuxwtun mixed use development on 2.35 hectares of the former Harewood Sports Field by utilizing an Alternate Approval Process.

Curtis Toneff has been named the interim Head Coach of the BC Hockey League’s Nanaimo Clippers.

Curtis, a former coach for the Junior B Nanaimo Buccaneers, was the head coach of the BCHL’s Merritt Centennials last season. He will lead the Clippers, who are awaiting a Hockey Canada decision on the status of their official head coach and General Manager Colin Birkas.


Roberta Bowen will become the Executive Director of the Ladysmith Chamber of Commerce in October. She takes over from Millie Stirling, who will be a Commercial Account Executive at LCU Insurance, and will remain a Director of the Chamber.


Pamela Anderson is now the face of a new Aritzia marketing campaign for its Babaton collection. Anderson is an actress and model who calls Ladysmith home.
