KELOWNA/NANAIMO – A regional tourism partnership has earned Kelowna International Airport and Nanaimo Airport major award from the Airport Council International.
The Excellence in Airport Marketing Communications & Customer Experience Award for Best in Airport Partnerships went to Kelowna and Nanaimo Airport to recognize the value of partnerships between airports in marketing, public relations and customer service initiatives.
A collaboration between Kelowna and Nanaimo’s airports and airline partner Pacific Coastal Airlines has been instrumental in highlighting regional travel, and both airports have promoted the benefits of traveling within the province.
“Regional tourism is essential for the economic growth and cultural vibrancy of our communities,” says Kelowna International Airport CEO Sam Samaddar. “Our collaboration with Nanaimo Airport, Pacific Coastal Airlines, Tourism Kelowna, Tourism Cowichan and Wine Growers Association of BC highlights the importance of partnerships in promoting regional travel.
“The regional connectivity provided by Pacific Coastal Airlines makes it easier and more convenient for residents and visitors to explore our beautiful province. Thank you to all the partners who collaborated towards showcasing our community.”
Pacific Coastal Airlines was recognized for providing residents the opportunity to travel more frequently throughout the province with the expansion of their routes.

Kelowna International Airport notes that the support of Tourism Kelowna, Tourism Cowichan and the Wine Growers Association of BC has been critical in showcasing the unique attractions and experiences available in the region.
