Salmon Capital Holdings, LTD™ comes to Campbell River

CAMPBELL RIVERSalmon Capital Holdings, LTD (SCHL) a private equity firm, has landed in Campbell River. Founded by Dana and Lisa Kammersgard, SCHL’s vision is to attract, mentor and fund startup companies in British Columbia and in the process, accelerate the adoption of technologically innovative products, services and solutions to traditional industry challenges, targeting small to mid-size communities for growth.

‘We chose Campbell River as our firm’s headquarters because it has the perfect combination of infrastructure, quality of life, cost of living and a business-friendly local government’, explained Lisa Kammersgard, Vice President, Marketing and Business Development.

‘We own property here and consider Campbell River our adopted hometown.’

As co-founders of the Campbell River Area Angel Group (CRAAG™) and NexStream™, the Kammersgards have been active in the area in business development and investment for a number of years. Now they are formalizing their efforts through Salmon Capital Holdings.

‘The problem we are focused on, is that small to mid-sized communities are being left behind in terms of technological innovation and therefore revenues, tech-skilled labor and an infusion of talent that can help pivot these communities and their traditional industries into the future.’ explained Dana Kammersgard, Managing Director and Chief Investment Officer.

‘Startups are generally not attracted to these communities as the financing, talent and advisory experience often don’t exist. Salmon Capital Holdings was founded to address this challenge with capital investment, operational experience, mentoring and in collaboration with city government, local investors and CRAAG.

He continued, ‘What we started with NexStream, we hope to expand in Campbell River and small and mid-sized communities throughout British Columbia.’ Investment interests include startups with innovative solutions to challenges in the aquaculture, forestry and natural resource management, cleantech, renewable energy and food health and safety industries.
