COWICHAN VALLEY – #ToSmallBizWithGratitude
The Duncan Cowichan Chamber of Commerce celebrated the vital role small businesses play in our economy and community during Small Business Week 2021, October 18 – 22.
While the Province and organizations like Small Business BC consider a small business is 50 people, we categorize small business to be ten or fewer employees, which represents 75 per cent of our growing membership. This is why we spend our time focused on advocating on issues that affect small businesses. And it has certainly been a busy 20 months advocating at all levels of government for our local businesses!
Small businesses and entrepreneurs are the backbones of every BC community. With over one million British Columbians employed by small businesses, their contributions through fueling innovation, creating jobs, and growing our economies are immense. Over the past 20 months, these business owners have shown their dedication and resilience while facing challenges and obstacles consistently. And we as consumers have learnt the importance of shopping local and supporting our fantastic local small businesses.
The Chamber celebrates small businesses every day of the year, but Small Business Week was an opportunity to highlight and give gratitude to the many small businesses in the community. This month and going forward, we will be using the hashtags #ToSmallBizWithGratitude, #WeHeartSmallBiz, and #BizResilienceCowichan to show our support for small businesses in the Cowichan as they continue to navigate the road to recovery.
We applaud small business’s entrepreneurial drive and gumption!
We would like to recognize the diverse group of businesses who joined our Chamber family the past few months: Cowichan Milk Company, Cowichan Valley Pest Control, Cobble Hill Country Grocer, High Definition Supplements, Organeyes Solutions, Barnes Custom Homes, Fresh Kenny’s, Isle Drive Driving School, Coastline Marketing, Resonance Hearing Clinic, Brama Cooling Techniques, Coastal Contemporary Homes, Special Occasions, Safe Harbours Driving School, Chandler Communications, Troll Brothers Quilt Shop, David Coulson Design Ltd, Oracle Teachings Ltd, Reflections of Perfection and Wood All Ways.
