COMOX VALLEY – Currently, the Comox Valley Chamber is continuing its effort to initiate a Governance Review for the Comox Valley area. The review is for the sole benefit of the Comox Valley, and its’ residents.
In the case of the Comox Valley, the governance review would consist of examining items such as: defining governance roles, determining if the current governance is adding value or creating barriers; outlining if current processes assist in achieving community goals, look at regional issues (air, water, development planning, waste management) and review tax spending to ensure tax dollars are being used efficiently.
The review would provide a non-biased study of the Comox Valley’s current governance model and determine what needs to be done, if anything, to make this a better, more efficient community than it already is. An online petition is being launched and will be ready to accept signatures in the coming weeks. Comox Valley citizens in support of learning the facts and having a study done can sign the petition at www.cvgovreview.ca.

The Chamber of Commerce is ready, set, and go for the 3rd annual Great Valley Rally on July 23. This adventurous event has a different focus than the usual business networking events or business development workshops. It brings the three communities together in support of a valley-wide community-building initiative.
The Great Valley Rally is modelled after “the Amazing Race” with teams reading maps, facing challenges, check points, business stops and more as they navigate their way through the Comox Valley. The race will end with an afternoon of fun with music, a BBQ for participants, and awards ceremony at this year’s recipient Filberg Heritage Lodge and Park Association. Each year, this event benefits a different project in the Comox Valley including the Cumberland Forest and the downtown Courtenay mural project. To read more visit: www.greatvalleyrally.com
