COMOX VALLEY – The Comox Valley Airport (YQQ) is proud to announce a significant milestone as the 2024 passenger statistics highlight a banner year for the airport. With 402,757 total passengers served, 2024 marked the third busiest year in the airport’s history and its busiest since the pandemic.
The robust year-end figures underscore the continued recovery and growth in air travel demand, with the annual passenger count reflecting an 8.3% increase — or 30,768 additional travelers — compared to 2023. December alone saw a total of 36,014 passengers representing an impressive 17% increase compared to December 2023.
The fourth quarter of 2024 was the airport’s busiest on record, achieving new monthly heights for both October and November.
“The resurgence in passenger traffic at YQQ speaks to the airport’s commitment to providing outstanding service, maintaining strong partnerships with airline carriers, and enhancing connectivity for the region,” says Comox Vally Airport Commission CEO Mike Atkins. “This year saw the successful launch of a new route to Kelowna, and the continued popularity of our seasonal flights to Toronto and Puerto Vallarta. Overall we are now 98% recovered to 2019 passenger levels — a testament to the vital link our airport represents for Vancouver Island.”
Throughout 2024, the airport worked diligently to meet the needs of travelers while ensuring safety, efficiency, and comfort. With the momentum of 2024 behind us, YQQ looks forward to continuing to serve as a vital gateway for Vancouver Island residents and visitors alike.
The Comox Valley Airport remains focused on supporting the region’s economic growth, fostering tourism, and strengthening connections to key destinations.
YQQ is due to welcome its landmark 7-millionth passenger in Spring 2025.
