VANCOUVER ISLAND – Coastal Community Credit Union will contribute $1.6 million in one-time special funding this year to benefit community initiatives and causes across the islands. The funds have been allocated from Coastal Community’s exceptionally strong year in 2022 and will be disbursed throughout the coming months.
“With last year’s exceptional results driven by our members’ and clients’ trust and commitment to do business with us, and the work and dedication of our employees, we’re very excited and grateful to be in this position to give back to our communities so significantly,” said Susanne Jakobsen, chair of the Board of Directors for Coastal Community.
“Everyone at Coastal Community is fully driven by our vision, purpose and values to providing services and advice to improve the financial health of our members and clients, while at the same time helping to build healthier communities. These focus areas are especially relevant during these times when many of our members and communities are facing financial and social challenges.”
Details about how the $1.6 million will be disbursed are still being worked out, but an important element in the decision making will be determining what’s important to the credit union’s members, employees and communities. Information about how members can have their voice heard and participate in the discussion will be shared at a later date.
“Without our members, we would not be able to deliver this exciting initiative, and we are committed to member input in allocating these funds. We’re thrilled that this money will help strengthen and sustain the communities we serve and where our members and employees work, live and play,” said Jakobsen.
