NANAIMO – Wes Mussio has sold the BC Hockey League’s Nanaimo Clippers to Brad Kwong. Brad is the son of Canadian Football League great Normie Kwong, who played for the Calgary Stampeders and Edmonton Eskimos and was also one of the original owners of the National Hockey League’s Calgary Flames. Brad owns a United States Hockey League franchise in Iowa, the Dubuque Fighting Saints, and is cousins with Graham Lee, who owns RG Properties, which built Save-ON Foods Memorial Centre in Victoria and Prospera Place in Kelowna, which are homes to Western Hockey League teams. RG also owns the WHL’s Victoria Royals.

The USFL is arguably the equivalent of major junior hockey in Canada, and one of Dubuque’s most famous alumni is Johnny Gaudreau of the Calgary Flames.

Former Clippers General Manager Tali Campbell has been promoted within the BCHL’s Coquitlam Express, as he has now been named Chief Operating Officer and General Manager of the team.

Chris Erb has his SupErb Construction vehicles on site at the former Long Lake Nursery site, as construction finally has started at the property, which will be home to the new location of Nanaimo Subaru, as well as Sprinter and Porsche dealerships, and a parkade. The current Subaru dealership on Kenworth Road will become an Audi dealership under the GAIN Group, which took possession of the Long Lake site in January, 2017. Chris says construction on the site could take two years to complete.
