COMOX VALLEY – Air Canada (AC) will increase its current Comox-Vancouver service of two flights per day to four flights in preparation for the summer season.
The extra capacity resulting from the service addition is well timed to meet the Comox Valley Airport‘s (YQQ) peak summer demand. Flights begin May 19th and June 1st, effectively allowing travellers to take advantage of Air Canada’s extensive network. Particularly welcome is an early morning departure from YQQ and late evening return.
“This is huge,” comments airport CEO Fred Bigelow. “Not only does it solve the early morning departure issue (previously served by CMA), but also fixes a long standing problem of connecting returning passengers back through YVR in the evening.
“It’s great to see Air Canada making this kind of investment in our market. Hopefully the passenger loads will prove strong and encourage continued growth in frequency and capacity on this route.”
The additional flights will operate daily, except Saturday, by Air Canada Express using a 50-seat, Bombardier Dash 8-300 aircraft.
