VERNON – Over 35 of the world’s top ranked Slopestyle athletes are now confirmed for Crankworx Summer Series SilverStar.
The four-day mountain bike festival returns to SilverStar Bike Park August 2-5. New to the festival this year will be the debut of the world’s first ever Women’s FMB Gold Level Slopestyle as part of the annual Rheeder Slopestyle event.
“We’re stoked to be part of the amazing progression in Women’s Slopestyle, from hosting the first Women’s FMB Silver Level event last year to hosting the first Women’s Gold Level event this year,” SilverStar’s Communications and PR Specialist Megan Sutherland says.
Among the confirmed competitors are top FMB riders Robin Goomes (NZL) and Harriet Burbidge-Smith (AUS), as well Alma Wiggberg (SWE), Shealen Reno (USA), Lisa-Marie Blanc (FRA), Natasha Miller (CAN), Natalia Niedzwiedz (POL) and Mia Moore (CAN), representing 8 of the top 10 female riders worldwide.
On the men’s side more than 25 riders are currently confirmed, including 15 of the world’s top 20. Riders include current FMB World Tour number one Emil Johansson (SWE), Paul Couderc (FRA), Tom Isted (UK), Lucas Huppert (SUI), Griffin Paulson (CAN), Chance Moore (CAN), Jake Atkinson (UK), Max Langille (CAN), Ben Thompson (CAN) and Alex Alanko (SWE).
“We won’t see all of these top 20 male and top 20 female Slopestyle athletes competing side-by-side in any other major competition this year,” Sutherland says.
“This is your chance to rub shoulders with the world’s best mountain bikers, right here on our doorstep and it’s all free to watch,” Sutherland added.
Local hero and two-time King of Crankworx, Bas Van Steenbergen, will also be at SilverStar for the four-day mountain bike festival.
The 2024 event will see the return of FMB Gold Level Men’s Rheeder Slopestyle, with the addition of the women’s category, as well as Pump Track Challenges and the BC/Canada Cup Downhill Race.
“If there’s one weekend to be at SilverStar, this is it,” Sutherland says.
Crankworx Summer Series SilverStar boasts a jam-packed event schedule for athletes and spectators, including free live music in the village, family-friendly activities, and more.
