Williams Engineering experts inspect all of their work for clients

KELOWNAWilliams Engineering sees their company as more than providing engineering services to customers – they are all about engineering cities that are better, stronger and brighter.

“We are a very purpose-driven company, we believe it’s our responsibility to engineer cities that are safe, inclusive, and resilient,” says Derek Hyde, Regional Business Manager, BC. “Our collective energy and attention is not only focused on designing the components of a building, instead we focus on every person who walks into that building, be it a library, hospital, condominium, or school, we consider how they will be impacted now and in the future.

“We aim to provide everyone with an inclusive space to create an experience as positive as possible.”

Williams Engineering “one-stop shop” for the many disciplines that are required of engineers.

“We offer multi-disciplinary engineering services: mechanical, electrical, structural engineering consulting services, sustainability consulting and project management,” Hyde explains. “In the BC region, we often pair our mechanical engineering services with energy modelling services, this allows the property owners to benefit from energy savings and meet the ambitious sustainability targets present in the province.”

Hyde is based in the Kelowna office for Williams Engineering, but he also works out of the other BC offices, in Abbotsford and Vancouver. He started with Williams Engineering in 2013 as a Project Manager, and began managing the Kelowna office in 2018, with his role expanding to cover the province added later.

Williams Engineering, founded in 1978, has experienced steady and strategic growth over the years. They open new offices in key regions including Calgary in 1993, Kelowna in 2012, Abbotsford in 2013, Whitehorse in 2015, and Vancouver in 2016.

In 2017, they took a significant step forward by acquiring Umbra Engineering under the Williams Group of Companies, and in 2018, they expanded further through a partnership with DB Engineering to launch DB Technologies.

Williams Engineering works on a multitude of different projects across the country

“Over the years, our expansion has been consistent and deliberate, allowing us to build a strong foundation, diversify our knowledge, and better serve our clients across Western and Northern Canada,” Hyde notes. “This steady growth has positioned us well for continued success in the years ahead.”

Williams Engineering’s isn’t resting on its laurels – it is looking within to prepare for continued growth in the marketplaces the company serves.

“After decades of operating as a legacy engineering company, we did a deep dive into why we exist,” Hyde explains. “We believe it’s time to reimagine the legacy that engineers leave behind. Rather than focus on how things have always been done, we choose to concentrate on how the engineering services we provide and the strategies we develop today will shape lives tomorrow. “Committing to this believe and our desire for positive impact inspired our team to create a purpose that genuinely defines what we do: WE brightens lives.”
